Mazda Autozam AZ1's now Fed Legal and available for purchase in the USA and PR!! We have the best prices around don't overpay for these beauties!! Serious inquiries please send us a message.
You are looking at the VERY FIRST Mazda Autozam AZ1 imported into the USA FEDERALLY LEGAL UNDER THE 25 YEAR RULE. Mazda AZ1 began manufacturing on September 8, 1992 and ours is one of the first made #173. It was imported exactly 25 years later September 11, 2017. The 25 year law goes by Month and Year of vehicle production. Not disputing that there are a few AZ1's already here in the USA, but if someone claims that their AZ1 which has already already been in the USA before September 2017 is fed legal they are mis-informed, or their importer forged some paperwork to get bond release etc. But no one really cares probably because it's not a super cool skyline that everyone has. :)
Manufactured from September 1992 to 1994, the Mazda Autozam AZ-1 which was noted for its gullwing doors was made available to the buying public on September 1992, with two color options, Siberia Blue and Classic Red. Both colors came with Venetian Gray lower panels. The AZ1 is a mid-engined 64 horsepower turbocharged sports kei car, designed and manufactured by Suzuki but sold by Mazda. It's power came from the Suzuki-sourced 657 cc F6A Inline 3 cylinder DOHC 12v turbocharged engine that was also used by the Mazda Carol.
By the time the AZ1 came into production, the recession had just hit in Japan. Selling for ¥1,498 million (the equivalent of $12,400 USD), it cost slightly less than a Mazda Eunos Roadster, but marginally higher than its competitor, the Honda Beat selling at ¥1,388 million and the Suzuki Cappuccino at ¥1,458 million. The AZ-1 was considered to be both too expensive and too cramped for a kei car.
With the total production of 4,923 this makes the AZ-1 the rarest of the kei sports cars, compared to the 28,010 total produced for the Cappuccino and 33,600 for the Honda Beat.
